Heisman Watch 2007-8, Week 13

The Heisman TrophyTim Tebow has pretty much done it all, and now just has to sit back and relax.

He should have the Heisman Trophy in his back pocket. Crushing rival Florida State makes that happen. Playing part of the game with a broken hand makes that happen. Now, the injury might be something to worry about in the long term, but it shouldn't hamper him from hoisting the Heisman Trophy.

I would like to say that a huge game by Pat White could change that. It won't

I would like to say that a huge game and an upset win by Chase Daniel and Missouri in the Big XII championship would change that. It won't, even if they voters try to boycott a sophomore.

Tim Tebow, congrats.

Given that I am handing him the trophy, I guess we have to look at how I would rank the others in the mix. Here is how that looks:

More Touchdowns, all of 51 have Tebow #1
  1. Tim Tebow (QB Florida) - 68.5%, 3132 yds, 29 TD, 6 INT, 838 yds rush, 22 TD - Got hurt, but it didn't seem to affect him. Winner.
  2. Pat White (QB West Virginia) - 69.0%, 1498 yds, 12 TD, 4 INT, 1144 yds rush, 14 TD - Probably too little too late. Even a big game against Pittsburgh will likely only mean a trip to New York, but no hardware.
  3. Dennis Dixon (QB Oregon) - 67.7%, 2136 yds, 20 TD, 4 INT, 583 yds rush, 9 TD - The loss to UCLA shows just how good Dennis Dixon is. He means so much to Oregon, it is a shame we don't get to see him play the rest of the season. He stays #3 because he is so good that his team just stinks up the field without him.
  4. Chase Daniel (QB Missouri) - 70.5%, 3951 yds, 33 TD, 9 INT, 258 yds rush, 3 TD - Shot at #3 depending on if he can avenge the loss earlier in the season to Oklahoma. It will have to be a better performance from him if it is going to happen.
  5. Darren McFadden (RB Arkansas) - 1725 yds, 15 TD, 5.7 avg, 3 pass TD - Impressive game against LSU, but too little, too late for me. Besides, you can't argue that Tebow is by far the best player this season when taken as a whole, even with his team's three losses. McFadden ended with a similar year to last, which I didn't think was good enough then, and that was when it included an extra game. I look forward to seeing him on Sunday, but he won't be doing it with a nice piece on his mantle.

People with still a chance to make this list: None

People who will still get some hype, but should be done: Colt Brennan, Todd Reesing, Michael Hart, Matt Ryan, Kevin Smith (UCF)
