My "AP" Ballot - Week 14
Doing the MRI is so much simpler than filling out this ballot. I don't have to make the tough decisions there. The computer does. It looks coldly at the numbers and gives me shockers like Troy moving into the Top 25 this week.
I was not as kind to the little school in Alabama.
And I am not following the masses and putting Missouri at #1 on my ballot. I am choosing to go with West Virginia, which I know will draw a lot of criticism. The Mountaineers lost to South Florida, who ended up losing 3 games in a row after the major victory. However, at this point in the season, no team is playing better than West Virginia. Their defense has stiffened. Pat White is acting as a major leader. They are holding onto the ball.
Plus, I can't take seeing another #1 on my ballot losing this coming weekend. Yes, Missouri is my #2, but like last week, I can't honestly believe that they can win against Oklahoma, even if beating the same team a second time is very hard. Oklahoma is just that much better than Missouri, despite what the records say.
Does that mean I should put Oklahoma ahead of Missouri? Probably, but for the week, I can give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they will actually cover the spread this time around too.
Here is how I would rank the teams going into week 14.
- West Virginia
- Missouri
- Ohio State
- Georgia
- Kansas
- Oklahoma
- LSU
- Florida
- Virginia Tech
- USC
- Arizona State
- Boston College
- Auburn
- Hawaii
- Michigan
- Tennessee
- Boise State
- Oregon
- Connecticut
- BYU
- Clemson
- Illinois
- Virginia
- Texas
- South Florida

No Notre Dame in the Top 25? After an impressive win over a stellar Duke squad, and a pummeling of Stanford on the road, I think they deserve be at least #9. Think about it: Stanford beat USC (currently #10), and Notre Dame beat Stanford. The logic is flawless.

Given that logic, then you could have Delaware as the #9 team in the country and they play in 1-AA. They beat Navy who beat the Domers. Using the transitive property is a scary thing this season in the football, especially when you use Notre Dame as the ending point.
